I am a J1 exchange scholar who just came to US for a month and a half, i heard there is a treaty between US and Chinese government that the J1 can exempt from being deducting Federal/state/local tax, can you provide me some details regarding this treaty, which form should i submit to prevent these tax from being deducted from my salary?
I have been working from 08/10/2007 and my employee stated deducting FICA from 03/13/2009, but my knowledge says that we are exempted for two years. Please let me know how to apply for refund.
